What we do
We offer one on one tuition, group music lessons and group music courses, including graded courses for all instruments and specialist courses such as Brush playing and Double Bass drumming.
We are currently putting the finishing touches to an Internet based music learning portal called MLC-U, specifically designed for students who are either unable to attend one of our academies and/or to supplement and continue their learning at home.
MLC-U courses help a student work towards a Trinity College accredited music grade and the student can sit their exam in any of the 60 countries that Trinity currently operate.
Our courses are a combination of rich multimedia video, audio and text and have been written by the MLC tutors themselves with the help of our dedicated media design team. New courses are being written all the time and we are currently working on a number of band courses in the Rock, Pop and Jazz genres.
Why are we expanding into Schools?
All of our music academies are receiving increasingly positive and enthusiastic feedback from parents who are delighted with the service that they receive from us and have expressed a strong desire to have that same level of service available to their children during their school study hours.
What we can offer
- 1 on 1 lessons
- Group lessons
- An after school band mentoring course
- Music Theory
- Music Grades (including an exam registering service)
- A music degree course
We aim to provide each student with a structured syllabus which runs in line with school term time with the aim of achieving a professional qualification at the end. It is also important to note that Grades 6-8 of each discipline contribute towards each student’s UCAS points.
With the Trinity Rock & Pop grading system students will also get to learn contemporary pieces of music to allow them to contextualise their skills more easily and with our band courses, they will be able to explore the social skills required to play music with others.
Free In-School Demonstration
Two or more of our teachers would come to the school and perform a 'clinic', an interactive demonstration where students get to experience first hand the excitement that playing music offers and it is an ideal opportunity for students and teachers to ask any questions. The school itself would determine when we would perform in the school day and we are amenable to whatever the school requires in terms of flexibility.
Why We Are The Best Choice For You
We have an exceptionally strong team of tutors here at MLC who are qualified, experienced and most of all passionate about music and we want to bring all of these things directly into your school environment where we know that students will benefit from our expert levels of tuition.
Each student has the opportunity and will be encouraged to go through the grading system to achieve industry recognised qualifications which will allow them to potentially move onto a career in music. A student of music doesn't necessarily have to become famous to make a living from their art form, they could become a studio or session musician, a teacher, a touring sideman, clinician, author or examiner. We know at MLC that we have the collective experience and cumulative knowledge to show students how to start their journey down any one of these music career paths, but the first step is good structured tuition.

Lesson Planning/Scheme Of Work
An example of a scheme of work can be sent to you upon request.
The teachers will be available in term time and outside of school hours (subject to negotiation with the school and the requirements of each student). The students will also have the opportunity to study at one of our Nottingham based sites (Abbey Road or Carrington Street).
During the half term period of each school semester MLC will be offering one free 30 minute lesson to each of the groups that we teach at one of our Nottingham based sites so that the students don't have to take a break in their learning. During the summer holidays we also run a summer school which further develops our students group performance skills. MLC offers a 25% discount to any of our school groups who wish to take part during the summer holidays.
MLC also offers an exchange program in conjunction with MLC Marseille. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn about music in a completely different cultural context as well as being able to learn something of the language and music of the area.
